Overview
Eunjee Son is a PhD student in the School of City and Regional Planning at Georgia Tech. Her research explores housing market dynamics and the broader impact of local economic development on communities. She focuses on the downstream effects of prominent firm entries and economic development policies, analyzing how these changes influence housing affordability and displacement pressures. Her work also examines the role of institutional investors in reshaping urban housing markets, with a particular attention to the consequences for renters’ housing quality and neighborhood stability. Eunjee aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of how major economic and investment forces interact with housing markets and shape equity in urban areas. She holds an M.S. in Urban Planning from Columbia University and a B.S. in City and Regional Planning from the Ohio State University. Before beginning her doctoral studies, Eunjee worked as an Urban Development Analyst at a New York City–based real estate development firm recognized for pioneering innovative approaches such as offsite construction.
