Heathcare Initiatives Taskforce – Sept. 19
The City of Atlanta has embarked on an ambitious effort to close racial equity gaps in the city through a strategy of place-based revitalization. Plans are being developed for six target neighborhoods that include at-scale investments in housing, education, economic development, transportation, and health and recreation. The effort is being facilitated by The Atlanta Committee for Progress (ACP), a Mayoral advisory group that has a history of assisting mayors in launching large, transformational projects.
To support this initiative, the ACP has established a task force on health under the leadership of John Haupert, the CEO of Grady Health System. The role of the Task Force is to develop actionable strategies to address the social determinants that we know drive the outcomes we care about in education, public safety, economic mobility and health.
We are assembling a group of academics and practitioners to kick off the effort on Sept. 19 from 2 – 5 p.m., to get a sense of what you are working on that could help to inform this effort. The agenda will include lightening rounds of short talks on relevant research and related work. If you have any work that you would like to share, or would simply like to participate as an attendee, please let us know.
The meeting will take place at Peachtree Building on the 41st floor. Upon arrival, please proceed to the building security. They will collect your information and guide you to the 41st floor via the elevator. Once on the 41st floor you’re welcome to wait in the lobby, and one of us will come to meet you. Please note that parking will be at your own expense, with a number of available lots nearby.
